What To Expect

Arrival – Sigiriya

Upon arrival at Colombo Airport, you will be greeted by a YTM HOLIDAYS representative who will assist with your transfer to your hotel in Sigiriya. Your first visit will be to the Golden Cave Temple, an ancient site dating back to the 1st century BC, featuring statues and murals that were renovated in later centuries. The caves also served as a refuge for King Valagamba. Afterward, you’ll check-in to your hotel and enjoy an overnight stay in Sigiriya.

Day 2: Sigiriya – Kandy

After breakfast at the hotel, you’ll visit the Sigiriya Rock Fortress, a UNESCO World Heritage site and a historical geological formation that once served as a royal citadel. Afterward, you’ll proceed to Kandy, with a stop en route to visit a Spice Garden, where you’ll learn about Sri Lanka’s famous spices and herbs. Upon arrival in Kandy, you’ll visit the Temple of the Tooth Relic, which houses the sacred tooth of Buddha. In the evening, you will enjoy a cultural show that showcases traditional Sri Lankan dances. Your overnight stay will be in Kandy.

Day 3: Kandy – Nuwara Eliya

After breakfast, you will embark on a Kandy city tour, exploring the scenic Kandy Lake, Gem Museum, Silk shops, and Batik displays. You will then proceed to Nuwara Eliya, with a stop to visit the Sri Baktha Hanuman Temple at Ramboda, a location where Hanuman is believed to have searched for Seetha. On the way, you’ll also visit Ramboda Falls, a majestic 109m-high waterfall, and a tea factory to learn about Sri Lanka’s famous tea production. You’ll enjoy your overnight stay in Nuwara Eliya.

Day 4: Nuwara Eliya

After breakfast, you will visit the Hakgala Botanical Gardens, the second-largest botanical garden in Sri Lanka, which is historically linked to the Ramayana and the legend of Queen Sita. Next, you’ll head to the Seetha Amman Temple, which is associated with the story of Seetha Devi’s captivity. You’ll also visit Moon Plains, known for its stunning panoramic views, often referred to as Mini World’s End. Your overnight stay will be in Nuwara Eliya.

Day 5: Nuwara Eliya – Ella – Yala

After breakfast, you will travel to Yala via Ella, stopping along the way to visit the Nine Arch Bridge, a famous structure set amidst the tea plantations. You will also visit Little Adam’s Peak for a scenic hike offering magnificent views of the surrounding landscapes. If you’re feeling adventurous, you can take a thrilling ride on the Ravana Zip Line. A visit to Ravana Falls follows, where the legend of the Ramayana ties the waterfall to the story of Seetha. You will then proceed to Yala for your overnight stay.

Day 6: Yala – Galle – Bentota

After a packed breakfast, you’ll enjoy an early morning safari at Yala National Park, known for its wildlife, including leopards. Following the safari, you’ll head to Galle to explore the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Galle Fort, a blend of European and South Asian architecture. From there, you’ll continue your journey to Bentota for your overnight stay.

Day 7: Bentota

After breakfast, you will visit the Kosgoda Sea Turtle Conservation Project, a dedicated hatchery that focuses on protecting endangered sea turtles. Next, you’ll embark on a scenic Madu River Safari, which offers views of numerous islands and mangrove forests. Later in the day, you will have the opportunity to enjoy exciting water sports like jet skiing, banana boating, and tubing. Your overnight stay will be in Bentota.

Day 8: Bentota – Colombo

After breakfast, you will travel from Bentota to Colombo. Upon arrival, you will explore the city, including landmarks such as the National Museum, Vihara Maha Devi Park, World Trade Center, and the Galle Face Green. You’ll also visit the Gangarama Temple, one of the most famous temples in Colombo, and the Colombo Museum to learn about the island’s rich cultural and natural history. In the evening, you’ll have some leisure time at Galle Face Green, enjoying the lively atmosphere by the ocean. Your overnight stay will be in Colombo.

Day 9: Colombo – Airport

After breakfast at the hotel, you will be transferred to the airport for your departure flight. Your tour concludes here, marking the end of your unforgettable Sri Lankan journey.
