Overview

Alleppey, also known as Alappuzha, is a charming town located in the backwaters of Kerala, India. Famous for its serene and picturesque backwater cruises, Alleppey offers a tranquil escape with its network of winding canals, lagoons, and palm-lined shores. Known as the “Venice of the East,” the town is a hub for houseboat tours, where visitors can explore the lush green landscapes and experience rural life. In addition to the backwaters, Alleppey is home to beautiful beaches, temples, and a historic lighthouse. The town also hosts the annual Nehru Trophy Boat Race, drawing crowds from around the world.

What To Expect

Day 1: Arrive Cochin.

Welcome to the ‘Appealing Kerala’ tour. Arrive in Kochi, Kerala’s charming city, where you’ll be picked up from Cochin Airport or Ernakulam Railway Station and transferred to your hotel. Later, visit St. Francis Church, Mattancherry Palace, the Jewish Synagogue, and see the Chinese fishing nets in Fort Kochi. Overnight in Kochi.

Day 2: Arrive Cochin – Transfer to Munnar (140 Kms / approx..4 hrs drive).

Arrive at Cochin Airport or railway station, where our representative will assist you. Drive to Munnar, a renowned hill station in Kerala known for its tea estates. En route, visit the Cheeyappara Waterfalls. Upon arrival, check into your hotel. Spend the evening at leisure. Overnight in Munnar.

Day 3: In Munnar – Sightseeing.

After breakfast, embark on a full-day sightseeing tour of Munnar. Visit old Munnar, including Christ Church and the Tata Tea Museum (closed on Mondays). Explore Mattupetty Lake and Eco Point, surrounded by steep hills, woods, and a small hydroelectric dam. Enjoy panoramic views of the dam and tea plantations. Spend the evening at leisure. Overnight in Munnar.

Day 4: Munnar – Thekkady (110 km / approx.. 3 1⁄2 hrs drive)

After breakfast, travel to Thekkady with an en-route visit to a Spice Plantation to learn about various spices and plants. Check into your hotel upon arrival. In the afternoon, visit Periyar Wildlife Sanctuary for a boat ride (additional cost, photo ID required). Enjoy leisure time exploring the bustling spice market in Kumily Village. Overnight in Thekkady.

Day 5: Thekkady – Alleppey (140 Kms / 04 hrs).

After breakfast, check out from the hotel and drive to Alleppey, renowned as Kerala’s Venice of the East, with its network of lagoons and mangrove fields interconnected by narrow canals. Upon arrival, check into your hotel and enjoy leisure time. Overnight in Alleppey.

Day 6: Alleppey – Cochin Departure (55 km / approx. 1 1⁄2 hrs drive).

Today, bid farewell to your ‘Appealing Kerala’ tour, as you are transferred to the airport or railway station in Cochin for your onward journey.
