What To Expect

Day 1: Airport – Sigiriya

On arrival at the airport, you will be greeted by the YTM HOLIDAYS representative. From there, you will be transferred to your hotel in Sigiriya via Munneswaram. The Munneswaram Kovil, near Chilaw, is one of the five major Shiva temples of Sri Lanka and Rameswaram islands, known as Ishvarams. According to a Tamil legend, it is believed that King Rama prayed to Shiva here after the killing of Ravana, a Brahmin, to seek forgiveness for the sin of Brahmahasti. Shiva instructed him to install four Lingams as a remedy. Afterward, you will visit the Manavari Temple, located 6 km north of Chilaw. This temple is where Lord Rama installed the first Lingam as an atonement for Brahmincide. The Ramalingam here was crafted by Rama himself, and there are only two such Lingams in the world. After the visit, you will return to the hotel for dinner and an overnight stay in Sigiriya.

Day 2: Sigiriya – Trincomalee – Sigiriya

After breakfast at the hotel, enjoy a day excursion to Trincomalee. You will first visit the Hot Spring Wells before proceeding to the Hindu temples in the area. These include the Sri Lakshmi Narana Perumal Temple and Koneswaram Temple (Shakthi Peedam), a sacred site with a rich history. The original Shankari Devi temple, built by Ravana, was destroyed by Portuguese cannonballs, but the pillar commemorating the site remains. You will also visit the Sri Bhadrakali Hindu Temple. After a day of exploration, you will return to Sigiriya for dinner and an overnight stay at the hotel.

Day 3: Sigiriya – Kandy

Enjoy breakfast at the hotel before transferring from Sigiriya to Kandy. You will first visit the UNESCO World Heritage site of Sigiriya, an iconic geological and archaeological formation. From Sigiriya, head to Matale to visit the Mathalai Muthumariamman Temple, a Hindu temple known for its colorful chariots and historical significance. On the way, you will stop at a spice garden to experience Sri Lanka’s renowned spice cultivation, including cloves, cinnamon, pepper, and ginger, along with learning about their medicinal uses. Later, you will enjoy a cultural show in Kandy. Afterward, check in at the hotel in Kandy for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 4: Kandy – Nuwara Eliya

Start the day with breakfast at the hotel, then head to the Temple of the Tooth Relic in Kandy. This 17th-century temple houses the relic of the Buddha’s tooth, a revered symbol of the Buddhist faith. You will also enjoy a city tour of Kandy, visiting the Lake Drive, Gem Museum, Silk Shop, and Batik shops. After the city tour, you will transfer to Nuwara Eliya. En route, visit the Sri Baktha Hanuman Temple in Ramboda, which is believed to be the place where Rama’s forces gathered against Ravana. The temple features a 16-foot statue of Lord Hanuman. Next, visit Ramboda Falls, a stunning waterfall situated at Ramboda Pass. Following this, you will visit a tea factory to learn about Sri Lanka’s famous tea production. Finally, stop by Gregory Lake in Nuwara Eliya, a picturesque spot offering boat rides, leisurely walks, and pony rides around the lake. After a full day, enjoy dinner and an overnight stay at the hotel in Nuwara Eliya.

Day 5: Nuwara Eliya – Colombo

After breakfast at the hotel, you will visit the Gayathri Peedam, an important temple dedicated to Goddess Gayathri, located in Sri Lanka’s spiritual heart. The temple is known for its association with Hindu mythology, particularly the story of the Tri Moortis. You will then visit the Seetha Amman Temple, believed to be the site where Seetha Devi was held captive by Ravana, with a stream by the temple said to have catered to Seetha’s needs during her captivity. Next, visit the Divurumpola Temple, where Seetha performed her Agni Pariksha, proving her chastity to Lord Rama. Afterward, you will transfer to Colombo. In Colombo, visit the Panchamuga Anjaneyar Temple, the first temple in Sri Lanka dedicated to Lord Hanuman in his Panchamuga (five-faced) form. The day will conclude with shopping and a city tour of Colombo, where you can explore local markets and attractions. Enjoy dinner and an overnight stay at the hotel in Colombo.

Day 6: Colombo – Airport

On the final day, enjoy breakfast at the hotel before being transferred from Colombo to the airport for your departure flight. The tour ends here.
